Nestled in the heart of the renowned Pomerol appellation on the right bank of Bordeaux, Château La Commanderie is a true little garden where quality and excellence are cultivated, much like its prestigious neighbors such as Pétrus, Château Le Pin, and Château Cheval Blanc in Saint-Emilion.
At Château La Commanderie, the vat room has been designed so that each plot can be vinified separately. The harvest is received by gravity, and each grape is carefully and meticulously selected before being vatted. Finally, the barrel cellar houses around a hundred French oak barrels made by renowned coopers with centuries-old expertise.
The 6 hectares of Château La Commanderie form a strip oriented south to north, embracing the cellars and on which Merlot (88%) and Cabernet Franc (12%) flourish.
Despite its modest size, the vineyard offers a remarkable diversity of soils: sandy to the south, clayey in the center, and gravelly to the north. It is this combination of terroirs that partly gives Château La Commanderie’s wine its complexity and elegance.
Passionate about history, music and culture, Melody is also a great epicurean. Her passion for wine was passed on to her at an early age by her aesthete and collector parents.
Andrew is particularly attached to the history and traditions handed down from generation to generation. His dearest wish: to make Château La Commanderie a family jewel that he would be proud to pass on to his children.
One of the most renowned oenologist consultants in the world of viticulture, Pascal is our guide and knight of the Commanderie. He oversees the quality of the harvest and the wines produced, and collaborates annually with Julien to create the blends that will make La Commanderie a great Pomerol wine.
Guardian of the well-being of our precious vines and the exceptional quality of the wines they will produce, Julien holds the secrets of La Commanderie. Hidden here and there, some vines even hold a portion of the magic of these places, and Julien’s hand is guided by the spirit of our protective knight, the knight of La Commanderie.
