Château La Commanderie Pomerol

Our legacy

Nestled in the heart of the renowned Pomerol appellation on the right bank of Bordeaux, Château La Commanderie is a true little garden where quality and excellence are cultivated, much like its prestigious neighbors such as Pétrus, Château Le Pin, and Château Cheval Blanc in Saint-Emilion.

Soil&Water

To preserve the nutrient and water resources of our soils, we carry out annual analyses on each plot to determine requirements and adapt inputs and cultivation methods.

Ecosystem

The balance of our vineyard's ecosystem is our priority. It is through this balance that the quality of our grapes (and therefore of our wines) is determined. From the outset, we have been working to revitalize the ecosystem by reducing phyto applications, limiting tillage and planting vegetation cover each year with species selected according to our needs.

Sustainability

Decisions and technical itineraries are always taken with the primary aim of controlling and reducing our carbon footprint. That's why we try to limit mechanized interventions in the vineyard and favor local suppliers.

At Château La Commanderie, the vat room has been designed so that each plot can be vinified separately. The harvest is received by gravity, and each grape is carefully and meticulously selected before being vatted. Finally, the barrel cellar houses around a hundred French oak barrels made by renowned coopers with centuries-old expertise.

an exceptional terroir

The 6 hectares of Château La Commanderie form a strip oriented south to north, embracing the cellars and on which Merlot (88%) and Cabernet Franc (12%) flourish.

Despite its modest size, the vineyard offers a remarkable diversity of soils: sandy to the south, clayey in the center, and gravelly to the north. It is this combination of terroirs that partly gives Château La Commanderie’s wine its complexity and elegance.
