Château La Commanderie Pomerol
A hidden gem from one of Bordeaux's most coveted appellations — with a story your clients will remember and an ex-works price that protects your margin.
The Importer's Challenge
The entry price for Pétrus. The top Pomerol estates are either astronomically priced or have their allocations locked by the largest distributors. Your clients ask for Pomerol — you struggle to deliver at a workable margin.
Of new wine references fail within 12 months — not because of quality, but because of poor commercial support from the estate. A wine that ships without a story, without visuals, without a partner, is a wine that sits in your warehouse.
The number of Bordeaux estate owners currently living in the United States. Most importers deal with a négociant who has never met the winemaker. Direct access to the proprietor is nearly unheard of.
What if you could add an authentic Pomerol to your portfolio — with competitive pricing, a legendary story, and a proprietor based in California ready to help you sell?
Why Work With Us
In the 12th century, the Knights Hospitaller welcomed pilgrims on the road to Santiago de Compostela on this very land in Pomerol. Eight centuries later, Melody and Andrew Kuk fell in love with the estate during their honeymoon in France — and vowed to restore it to its former glory. Under the guidance of renowned oenologist Pascal Chatonnet, they have spent over a decade crafting wines worthy of this extraordinary terroir.
Each vintage tells a chapter of the Knight's quest — a narrative that intrigues buyers and converts, not just a tech sheet.
Melody lives in California. She attends your tastings, visits key accounts, and meets your team — no négociant, no intermediary.
One of the world's most sought-after oenologists. Also consulted for Beaucastel, Vega Sicilia, Cos d'Estournel, and Miraval (Brad Pitt). His name is an instant trust signal.
Ex-works from $32 for the Grand Vin. Every tier of the three-tier chain makes its margin — recommended retail $99.
Tech sheets, HD photos, critic reviews, food pairing guides, vintage storytelling — everything ready to use. US-compliant labels included.

Request Samples"We want to create something in Pomerol that our children will be proud of. We are fascinated by the history of the Bordeaux vineyard and wish to leave our mark on Château La Commanderie."
"The potential of this site was self-evident. I am convinced that its wines will soon achieve excellence — positioning themselves among the great wines of Pomerol."
"A successful job is one you don't see. It's when the wine speaks for itself, when its qualities seem obvious — as if it had always been this way."
"Our Chinese heritage gives us the ability to understand and appreciate the importance of a place's history. We think about how we can collectively do better in the future."
That's exactly the point. La Commanderie is one of Pomerol's best-kept secrets — 5.78 hectares, Templar heritage dating to the 12th century, with Pascal Chatonnet overseeing the winemaking. Two consecutive 93-point Suckling scores confirm the trajectory. The best way to discover us is to taste.
La Commanderie isn't meant to replace your current Pomerol references — it's a complementary addition. At $32–35 ex-works with a $99 recommended retail, it fills the gap between entry-level Bordeaux and the $200+ Pomerol names. The Knight's storytelling gives your sales team a conversation starter that other estates simply don't have.
Our ex-works pricing is competitive enough that even with 10–15% Section 122 tariffs, the landed cost positions La Commanderie attractively for a $99 retail. These tariffs are capped at 150 days — importers who position themselves now will have an advantage when they expire.
Current available inventory across vintages: 2023 (15,000 btl), 2022 (1,400 btl), 2020 (4,000 btl), 2019 (5,000 btl), 2016 (1,200 btl), 2015 (800 btl). Minimum order is 300 bottles (half-pallet). Second wine volumes are higher — ideal for on-premise accounts.

Following the footsteps of the Templars, embark on a journey to discover the incredible story of Château La Commanderie and its Knight, guardian of this mystical place.
Merlot : The lord of the land at La Commanderie, round and powerful, it expresses fruity aromas (red and black fruits), undergrowth and violets.
Cabernet Franc : The faithful companion : rich in polyphenols and tannins, it brings freshness and complexity.
The roots of Château La Commanderie’s vines plunge into sandy-gravel soils, some of which are clay, giving each parcel its own character. The subsoil contains iron oxides, known as crasse de fer, which give Pomerol wines their unique identity.
Before being put in vats, the grapes undergo a strict selection process that begins in the vineyard and ends at the reception area. They are then transferred to their respective vats (parcel-by-parcel vinification) using a gravity system. Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wines are aged for a minimum of 15 months in barrels.
With a purple hue shifting towards garnet, a thick opaque nectar coats the glass. On the palate, it’s a festival, blending the finesse of tannins and the aromatic intensity with candied black fruits and a hint of spices, more or less pronounced depending on the vintage.
